The first edition of this illustrated sporting encyclopedia, complete in two volumes.
Uniformly bound in signed half crushed morocco by Bickers, with cloth boards. With elegant gilt decoration to the spines.
This nineteenth century work references a vast selection of sports and related knowledge, including racing, fishing, taxidermy and more.
Both volumes are adorned with a frontispiece, nineteen plates and numerous in-text illustrations. With an additional illustrated title page to Volume I. Collated, complete.
Condition
Uniformly bound in half crushed morocco by Bickers, with cloth boards and decorative gilt to the spines. Externally, smart, with rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with occasional spotting, heaviest to the first and last few leaves.
