Fine Binding, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Pleasing Copy
A 'New Edition' copy. In an attractive full calf school binding of 'Wyggeston Boy's School Leicester', with gilt crest to the front board and attractive marbled endpapers and textblock. With a presentation bookplate tipped to the front pastedown (partially removed to lower extremity) presented by the first headmaster of the school, Rev. James Went, to a 'R. A. Siddons'. This plate is dated 'July 28th, 1898'. This copy is copiously illustrated throughout by the notable English draughtsman and wood engraver Samuel Williams.
In a full polished school binding with gilt detail to the boards and spine. Externally, slightly rubbed to extremities, joints, and head and tail of spines. Fading and rubbing to spines, with slight loss and lifting to spine label. Presentation bookplate tipped to front pastedown, partially removed to lower extremity. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to edges but very bright and clean. The odd spot to the occasional page, heavier to first and last few pages.
