The first edition of this work.

With classic rhymes including 'Jack and Jill' and 'Georgie Porgie' set to music by Joseph S. Moorat.

With a frontispiece, two illustrated title pages, and numerous vignette illustrations, full page illustrations and decorative borders.

These illustrations are the work of British book illustrator and stained-glass artist Paul Woodroffe.

With a former owner's presentation inscription to a front blank, dated Christmas 1896.

The first in this series, titled 'Ye Booke of Nursery Rhymes', was published the year prior.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Handling marks to rear board, with front board bright. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Former owner's inscription to a front blank. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to first few leaves, with pages otherwise clean and bright.
