The title page acknowledges that this is written by a descendant of Digby. The author has been identified as Thomas Longueville. With a frontispiece and six plates. Collated, complete. Bookplate to the front pastedown of the Duke of Leeds. Most likely to be the bookplate of George Godolphin Osborne, the 10th Duke of Leeds. A finely bound copy of this biography, which looks at this influential Catholic during the Civil War.

Condition

In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the joints and extremities. Small loss to the head of spine. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Scattered spotting to pages.
