Edward Lear (1812-1888) was an English illustrator, author and poet, most renowned for his literary nonsense verses, in particular his limericks. 'The Owl and the Pussycat' is amongst his famous poems. His nonsense works were extremely popular, and he published a number of different volumes which ran many editions during his lifetime.

Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with a little discolouration to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Various ownership stamps to the front endpaper and pastedown, one a nonsensical alphabetical jumble, one for Reeve's Chocolates. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
