Published after his death in 1890, Brownlee's son and wife completed this extensive memoir and history. Includes a brief memoir from Mrs. Brownlee.
Brownlee was a politician and writer of the Cape Colony, and the first Secretary for Native Affairs in the Cape.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There are some light marks to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional light spot.
