First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this work, part travelogue, part theological investigation.

The preface of author Reverend Archibald Sutherland explains that 'these chapters are called 'Travel-Studies,' to indicate that they combine the impressions of travel with the results of study before and after travel'. The locations travelled to and studied include Damascus, Egypt, Nazareth, Jerusalem and Bethlehem. Each is examined through a Biblical lens, and supplemented with theological observations.

To the front free endpaper is a contemporary inscription dedicated to Mr and Mrs James Suttie, 'on the occasion of their silver wedding', dated 11th November 1904.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with a mark to the rear board. Front hinge tender but holding firm. Contemporary owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
