The first edition thus. The first edition in this gorgeous blue peacock binding. Illustrated throughout by F H Townsend. Collated, complete. 'Gryll Grange' is the final novel written by Peacock. It first appeared in Fraser's Magazine. Its vigour is representative of his retirementfrom the East India Company. It follows Gregory Gryll, who was descended from Gryllus, a character whom was turned into a pig by Circe. Gryll is unmarried and has adopted his niece as an heir. It follows her challenge to find a man of her taste. Thomas Love Peacock was an English novelist, poet and official of the East India Company. A beautiful copy of this work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with a gilt peacock to the front board. Externally, excellent with minor shlfwear to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are extremely bright and clean.
