A detailed and insightful biography on the life and work of Anna Kingsford, written by her lifelong collaborator, Edward Maitland.
Kingsford was a noted anti-vivisectionist, vegetarianism, and women's rights campaigner. She was one of the first English women to obtain a degree in medicine, and was an active member of the Theosophical movement, and work works on the esoteric and occult.
Maitland considered Kingsford to be a born seen with great gifts for seeing apparitions.
Volume I is illustrated with a frontispiece, and six plates.
Volume II is illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding plate, five plates.
Collated, complete.

Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines. A few minor marks to the boards and spines. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean with a few scattered spots.
