First edition, first impression. As stated in P. Newbolt's bibliography (72.1).

Illustrated with twelve monochrome plates by Ralph Peacock and a Plan. Collated, complete. Binding also designed by Ralph Peacock. 

Also includes a portrait of Henty after the list of illustrations, tipped in. 

G. A. Henty was an English novelist and war correspondent from the mid to late nineteenth century. He is well renowned for his work of adventure and historical fiction. 

Prior owner's ink inscription from 1918 to the half title.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities resulting in some slight wear to the cloth. The hinges are starting. Prior owner's ink inscription from 1918 to the half title. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some occasional spotting.
