A very scarce Limited Edition copy of this fantasy novel from writer, artist and textile designer William Morris. This is number 41 of 50 copies printed on Whatman's Paper, published the year after the first edition.
Housed in a paper covered slip case.
With elements of the medieval tradition of the chivalric romance, Morris here wrote perhaps the first modern fantasy novel to unite an imaginary world with the element of the supernatural, thus pioneering much modern day fantasy literature.
With the armorial bookplate of American painter Arnold Hoffmann to the front pastedown.

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with paper covered slip case. Shelf wear to back strip tail, with back strip label lightly age toned. Sip case back strip likewise age toned, with boards bright. Armorial bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
