The first edition, first impression, with "eader" for "reader" to line 13 page 98, in the cloth binding with the title and angel in gilt to the front board.

This satirical fantasy novel tells the story of an angel who spends time on Earth, to find himself hunted and greeted by the realities of humanity. This work was based of a remark attributed to John Ruskin, where he stated that if an angel came to earth, we would be sure to shoot it.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine is faded. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few very light marks to the cloth. Spots to the paste downs and endpapers. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
