Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The second edition of the important Hugh Thomson Peacock 'Pride and Prejudice'. This reprint printed in March 1895, the first Peacock edition was printed in October 1894.

This peacock edition has become a classic of book design, being much reprinted in the following years and even printed on a tote bag in the twenty-first century.

Thomson was an Irish illustrator, who did pen-and-ink illustrations for editions of works by Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and J. M. Barrie.

'Pride and Prejudice' is perhaps one of the most famous love stories of all time. Mr Darcy and Lizzie Bennet suffer equally from their pride and prejudices, ensuring a tumultuous journey for them.

Jane Austen has become one of the most popular Georgian writers, her novels being loved for generations.
