An extensive botanical work on fern culture by E J Lowe, botanist who shares his fifty years' experience in crossing and cultivation in this very scarce, exceptional work. The first edition of 1895. 

Containing all the tips and hints to grow fern, as well as a thorough description of fern varieties, details of experiments, species of British ferns. 

Including memoirs of fern hybridisers such as Colonel A M jones, E F Fox, and A Clapham. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece and two full page plates (one coloured), as well as fifty nine engravings in text. Collated, complete. 

An excellent copy in the original publisher's cloth.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding, Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. With a fern leaf loosely inserted. Previous ownership's signature in pencil to the front blank page, dated 1973. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with only the odd faint spot to the very occasional leaf. Richly illustrated with a frontispiece and two full page plates (one coloured), as well as fifty nine engravings in text. Collated, complete.
