Bound in crushed full morocco by Ramage with their binder's stamp to the recto of front free endpaper.  

This work was written by James Anthony Froude and features a series of lectures delivered at Oxford University, where the English historian worked as a professor. These lectures discuss iconic seamen of the sixteenth century such as Sir John Hawkins and Drake and his voyages.

Condition

Bound in crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards. End papers renewed, retaining original half title. Externally excellent with only slight fading to the spine. Bookplate belonging to a John. J. Dewhurst with minimal offsetting to the extremities of the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned and clean pages.
