A thrilling account of the authors' experiences travelling through Northern Africa on Rover Safety Cycles. With chapters on Oran, Tlemcen, Miliana, Palestro, Constantine, Tunis, Hamman Meskoutine, Setif, Kabylie, and Beni Yenni. Written by Fanny Bullock Workman, an American geographer, cartographer, explorer, travel writer, and mountaineer, and her husband William Hunter Workman, an American explorer and author. Fanny was one of the first female professional mountaineers, not only exploring but writing about her adventures. She set several women's altitude records, published eight travel books with her husband, and championed women's rights and women's suffrage. Previously held in the library of The MacRobert Trust, a charity supporting the RAF and the Royal Academy of Engineering. The trust was established by the eldest child of Fanny and William Workman, Lady Rachel Workman MacRobert after the loss of her three sons during the Second World War.

Condition

In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing to the extremities and minor bumping. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small handling mark. Light age toning and the odd spot to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
