Description

Colour Plates, Illustrated, Rebound, Scarce

A fascinating and comprehensive edited edition of these seventeenth-century manuscripts concerning the county of Worcestershire, located in the West Midlands of England.

This work was originally written during the early seventeenth century in manuscript form by Thomas Habington (1560-1647). Thomas Habington was an English antiquarian and the son of John Habington, treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I.

Edited by John Amphlett of Clent.

Complete in two volumes, the first having been published in 1895 and the second having been published in 1899.

Volume I contains three engraved plates, and Volume II contains one plate engraved in colour. Collated and complete.

A scarce work.

These volumes have been uniformly bound in full cloth and were previously institutionally housed, with library stamps to the front pastedowns and front free-endpapers of each volume, as well as a few small library ink notations to the verso of the title pages in each volume.

Condition

Uniformly bound in full cloth. Externally, smart, with some shelf wear to the boards and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Library ink notations to the tails of the spines, and a few marks to the boards. Library stamps to the front pastedowns and front free-endpapers of each volume, as well as a few small library ink notations to the verso of the title pages in each volume. Internally, binding is slightly tender. Some light age-toning to the title pages, but otherwise pages are generally clean throughout.
