First and second editions. 

Illustrations include a frontispiece to each of the volumes, as well as a vignette title-page engraving and numerous illustrated plates, many of which were 'suggested and revised' by A. J. Stuart-Wortley and A. Thorburn. 

This is a lovely three volume collection of three works from within the 'Fur and Feather', or later, 'Fur, Feather, and Fin' series, edited by Alfred E. T. Watson. These works examine the natural history of a range of different wild animals, along with descriptions on how to properly hunt them and cook them afterwards. 

'The Grouse' (1895, second edition) includes sections by H. A. Macpherson, A. J. Stuart-Wortley, and George Saintsbury, with eleven illustrated plates and in-text illustrations. 

'The Pheasant' (1895, first edition) includes sections by H. A. Macpherson, A. J. Stuart-Wortley, and Alexander Innes Shand, with nine illustrated plates and in-text illustrations. 

'The Salmon' (1898, first edition) includes sections by A. E. Gathorne-Hardy, Claud Douglas Pennant, and Alexander Innes Shand, with seven illustrated plates.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent, with minimal bumping and just a bit of wear to the head and tail of spine. Prior owner's pencil inscriptions to front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with light age-toning to the margins of pages and the odd spot throughout text.
