The first edition, first impression of The Yellow Fairy Book edited by Andrew Lang in the original publisher's cloth binding. 

This work comes as part of The Lang's Fairy Books, a series of twenty five collections of both true and fictional stories for children.

Andrew Lang was a Scottish poet, novelist and anthropologist of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, best known for his collections of folk and fairy tales.

Illustrated with twenty two monochrome plates and illustrations throughout the text by H. J. Ford. Collated, complete. 

With beautiful gilt to the front board. Two pages of advertisements to the rear.

Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page dated 1895.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The spine is slightly faded. The hinges are strained. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page dated 1895. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot.
