First edition. Illustrated throughout with one hundred and eighty-five images. A collection of essays from important authors of the late Victorian period, providing reminiscences on their first published book. With contributions from authors such as: Walter Besant, Rudyard Kipling, A. Conan Doyle, H. Rider Haggard, and Robert Louis Stevenson, amongst others. With an introduction from Jerome Klapka Jerome, an English writer and humorist. Previously held in the library of Thomas Edgar Pemberton, an English novelist, playwright and theatrical historian. With publisher's advertisements to the rear.

Condition

In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Small splits in the cloth to the head of the spine. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting and minor age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown.
