1894 Fifty Breakfasts
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Scarce
First edition, first impression in cloth binding of Colonel Arthur Kenney Herbert's cookbook on breakfast.
Herbert was a British soldier in the British Indian Army, who in his free time wrote cook books. His time in India taught him a lot about Indian cooking and ingredients, which he wrote articles on regularly in newspapers such as The Daily News and The Madras Mail. He used the pseudonym 'Wyvern'.
This cook book is a historic example of the way the British diet changed in the colonial era. Herbert's breakfast recipes show a clear example of traditional recipe's given a twist with new ingredients, such as different varieties of pepper.
Includes adverts to the pastedowns and endpapers.
