The first edition of Daniel J. Rankin's first hand account of his experiences in the region of Nyasaland and the Zambezi basin, with chapters on the commercial prospects of the region, life on the Zambesi, and his travels and methods of transportation.

Illustrated with ten photographic plates, and three folding maps. Collated, complete.

With the stamp of the First Lanark Volunteer's Sargeant's Mess to the head of page I, and no further library markings. Inscription to head of front free endpaper.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Fading to cloth, with mark to tail of front board. Front hinge starting, with board holding firm. Inscription to head of front free endpaper. Internally, binding lightly strained throughout, with cords exposed. Pages generally clean and bright, with library stamp to head of page I.
