Early Edition, Limited Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce work. Including descriptions of different flies, information on artificial flies, a chapter on hooks, and more. Written by John Beever, a nineteenth-century avid sportsman and fisherman from the Lake District. This edition includes a memoir of the author written by W.G.C., and an appendix and publisher's booklist to the rear. Containing the bookplate of a previous owner to the front free-endpaper: 'This book is the property of Charles G. Brown, Advocate, in Aberdeen'.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart with some shelf wear and bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Slight discolouration to the cloth, particularly to the spine. The odd mark to the boards. Previous owner's bookplate to the front free-endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Slight age-toning to the extremities of the pages, as expected, and the odd spot or handling mark throughout. Otherwise, pages are bright and clean.
