First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding
The first edition.
A unique extra illustrated copy, the original work, which pages measure to 7.5" by 5", in bound between sheets of blank pages measuring to 10" by 6.5". Many of the blank pages have additional illustrations tipped-in my the compiler, with additional illustrations loosely inserted. A total of fifty-one additional illustrations tipped-in, seventeen loosely inserted, and three additional articles.
All of the extra illustrations relate to the work and leadwork, many showing additional views of the illustrations in the original work.
W. R. Lethaby's interesting study on leadwork, mostly focusing on old and ornamental work of England, with chapters focusing on roofs, fonts, fountains, statues, pipes, and more.
Condition
In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the cloth, spine, and extremities. Minor marks to the boards, heavier to the rear board. Spine is a little faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with scattered spots to the endpapers and the occasional handling mark.
