The first impression of this illustrated collection of humorous poems from Thomas Hood, illustrated throughout and with a frontispiece from popular illustrator and line artist Charles Edmund Brock, and in the lovely publisher's original cloth binding. The first edition thus.

Hood was particularly recognised for his humorous poetry as well as his regular contributions to The London Magazine and Athenaeum. This work includes some of Thomas Hood's most well known poems, such as 'Tim Turpin', 'Morning Meditations, and 'Queen Mab'.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with small splits in the cloth. Front hinge and tail of rear hinge starting, with board holding firm. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
