Rebound in vellum, this copy of Coaching Days and Coaching Ways by William Outram Tristram was previously owned by Ivor Andrew Benyon Ferguson; great great Uncle to Princess Beatrice and Eugenie. With 214 Illustrations by Hugh Thomson and Herbert Railton, collated and complete. This fascinating account of stagecoach travel in England not only offers a detailed record of the types of horse-drawn transport, but also gives descriptions of the inns and types of clientele that could be found on the major coaching roads of Bath, Exeter, Portsmouth, Brighton, Dover, York, and Holyhead. A with the crest of the Ferguson Clan of Scotland to the front board, with clan motto 'Dulcius Ex Asperis' ('Sweeter after Difficulties'. Bookplate to front pastedown has same crest and with prior owner's name 'A.B. Ferguson' and ink inscription to half title 'Ivor Ferguson 1895'. Ink inscription to verso of front endpaper reads 'Sunday Times Easter 1933' and 'Morning Post 22/4/33'. On recto of rear endpaper, wills and bequests section from 1938 newspaper pasted in. Clipping states the money given by Ivor Ferguson to staff following his death. Ivor Ferguson was uncle to Andrew Henry Ferguson. Andrew Henry Ferguson's granddaughter is Sarah Ferguson, who married Prince Andrew in 1986 until the couple divorced in 1996.
