Original Binding

Uniformly bound in publisher's blue cloth bindings. Being the November 1893 second reprint of Many Inventions, published the same year as the first edition, and the february 1893 reprint of Life's Handicap. This is the fourth reprint, issued two years after initial publication. With 54 pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of Life's Handicap. Life's Handicap is a collection of short stories about the British in India. Many Inventions is another anthology of short stories, 12 of which had previously appeared in various publications such as The Atlantic Monthly and The Strand Magazine.

Condition

In original cloth bindings with gilt stamped detailing to the head of boards and to spine. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spines. Patches of rubbing to the joints and extremities. Front hinge to Life's Handicap is strained but firm. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown of both volumes, Angus &Robertson. Internally, binding to both volumes is slightly strained in places, particularly to Many Inventions. Pages are generally bright with spotting to the first and last few pages, heaviest to endpapers. Otherwise, occasional light spots.
