What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Illustrated, Pleasing Copy, Publishers' Original Binding
A stunning illustrated edition comprising classical Greek myths written for children by Nathaniel Hawthorne. With six myths that welcomed the classical heroes such as Perseus, Midas, and Pandora into the children's life, modified in such a way to be suitable for all ages, with stunning illustrations that help bringing them to life. Nathaniel Hawthorne was of the idea to rewrite myths very early on, but it wasn't until the birth of his daughter in 1851 that he started writing it. The idea was to change the style of writing, from the cold classical language, to a more Gothic or romantic tone.
Profusely and stunningly illustrated throughout, with nineteen colour plates and forty one in-text illustrations by Walter Crane.
