What Our Customers Say...

Description

Folding Plates, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The second edition of English architect Henry Sulley's study of the architecture of Ezekiel's Temple, as it is described in the final nine chapters of the book of Ezekiel. First published in 1887, this work is very scarce in all contemporary editions.

Illustrated with fourteen plates, a number of which are folding, 'drawn from the specification of the inspired testimony'. Plate V is detached but present. Collated, complete.

As a Christadelphian, Sulley toured Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada, showing his large illustrated architectural designs for Ezekiel's temple in lecture halls and museums, discussing the 'nature, character and extent' of the Biblical site.

Extensive former owner's inscriptions to verso of front free endpaper and a front blank.

A smart copy of this very scarce work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Significant bumping to back strip head and tail, and board perimeters. Inscriptions to verso of front free endpaper and a front blank. Internally, binding strained to centre of text block. Pages generally bright and clean, with scattered light handling marks. The odd marginal inscription. Closed tears to folds of plates, with plate V detached but present.
