What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

The very scarce true first edition of this work. A folio limited edition of fifty copies was issued a year later, with colour illustrations.

Edward Stebbing's brief yet informative work on the Ardabil Carpet.

The Ardabil Carpet is the name of two famous and impressive Persian carpets, the largest of which is now at the V&A Museum in London. The carpet dates from A.H. 946, or 1539-40, which is believed to be the earliest date on any Persian carpet. William Morris strongly advised the V&A to acquire the carpet.

Illustrated with a frontispiece.

Stebbing was a pioneering forester and entomologist.

Including a paper on Persian Carpets, a list of carpets in the collection of Vincent Robinson & Co, and press notices.
