Archibald Forbes' insightful study on the First and Second Afghan Wars, which spanned from 1839-42 and 1878-80. Forbes was present in Afghanistan during this second war, and accompanied the Khyber Pass force to Jalalabad. In this work he provides vivid first-hand details on the Wars.

Condition
In the original publisher's quarter morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbing to the spine and extremities. Some minor marks to the boards and spine. Spine is a little discoloured. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with spots to the plates and title page.
