What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce

Copyright edition. Scarce edition. Illustrated with a few in-text sketches. The longest of Sir Walter Scott's novels, as part of the Waverley series. The story follows Julian Peveril, a Cavalier, who has fallen in love with Alice Bridgenorth, a Roundhead's daughter, but both he and his father are accused of involvement with the "Popish Plot" of 1678. Written by Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish historian, novelist, poet, and playwright whose works remain classics of European and Scottish literature.

Condition

In the original pictorial paper wraps. Externally, sound with chipping to the extremities and marks to the boards. Loss to the head and tail of the spine. A tear to the rear joint means this could detach with further handling. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the first and last few pages.
