This work comprises a recollection of the surveys undertaken, their discoveries and importance, as well as historical detail regarding the province of Taranaki.
The Taranaki Province was a New Zealand province until the abolition of a provincial government in 1876. It covered two million acres, making it the smallest province as well as the least populated.
Written by Edward Stanley Brookes (1840-1904), an important surveyor for New Zealand as a settlement.

Illustrated with six sketches in colour, as well as a number of maps and diagrams.
Condition
In a full cloth binding, with gilt detail to the cover. Externally very smart, with some slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine resulting in discolouration to the cloth. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean.
