Volume II of this large set of three dedicated to the Australasian region, edited by English-Australian journalist and politician Andrew Garran. This volume contains chapters concerning the history and topography of Victoria, Queensland, South and West Australia, and Tasmania. With descriptive notes by a variety of contributors such as James Smith, W H Trail, and Henry T Burgess among others.
Illustrated with twenty full page plates as well as over over eight hundred engravings on wood by leading Australian and American artists. Collated, complete.
Condition
Rebound in full straight up grain morocco binding, with five raised bands, gilt tooling to spine and boards, gilt to edges, renewed endpapers. Externally smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly rubbed and scuffed to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Light minor spotting to first few leaves, otherwise pages bright and clean.
