Folding Maps, Prize Binding

An in-depth account of the search of Sir John Franklin, a Royal Navy officer and Arctic explorer who was lost during his third and final expedition to the Northwest Passage in 1845. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, five double-paged plates, eight plates, and in-text illustrations.

Written by Elisha Kent Kane, who was a member of two Arctic expeditions to rescue Franklin, when it was believed that he could still be alive.

In a prize binding from Cheltenham College presented to Brunel Cohen, prize label to the front pastedown, with Cohen's bookplate tot he recto to the front endpaper. Cohen was a British Conservative Party politician, who massively campaigned on the behalf of disabled people after he lost both of his legs in the First World War.

Condition

In a full calf prize binding. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. Minor marks and a little rubbing to the boards and spine. Prize label to the front pastedown. Bookplate to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
