Description

Publishers' Original Binding

Complete in five volumes.

A detailed and extensive history of Ireland during the eighteenth century.

This period of Irish history was marked by the dominance of the Protestant Ascendancy, with Anglo-Irish families bringing Anglicism into the country, though many were absentee landlords still based in England. Though the majority of the country were Roman Catholics, the Anglicans had most of the power in the country.

Written by the Irish historian William Edward Hartpole Lecky, best known for his history of England.
