First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece, title vignette, and thirty-three full-page images. Collated complete. A collection of Eton Songs, including: Carmen Etonense, Victoria! Our Queen, Cricket is King, A Song of Fives, and Hymn for Founder's Day. With the accompanying original musical score. Written by Arthur Campbell Ainger, an assistant master at Eton College from 1864 to 1901 who wrote the text of more than ten Christian hymns. Set to music by Sir Joseph Barnby, an English composer and conductor. Illustrated by Herbert Marshall, an English watercolour painter, illustrator, and cricket player.

Condition

Bound in full vellum. Externally, very smart with minor discolouration as is typical with ageing and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1897.
