First published in 1855 and described as "a fireside pantomime", Thackeray's satirical work challenges the ideals held by the monarchy and those at the top of society around beauty and marriage.
Condition
In publisher's original red cloth with gilt lettering and illustrated front board. Externally generally smart, with bumping to extremities, heaviest to head of spine, and some marks to boards. Faded spine. Internally, binding strained. Pages age toned but generally clean, with scattered spotting, heavier to the first and last few leaves. Pencil inscription made to the rear of the front free endpaper.
