Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

This early reprint of one of W.S.Gilbert's Bab Ballards, a collection of light verses, is comically illustrated and written by Gilbert who was an English dramatist, poet and illustrator. 

These Bab Ballards became famous for their cynicism and satire and became sources for the Gilbert and Sullivan Operas. 

The book includes a beautifully illustrated frontispiece, embedded illustrations throughout and two pages of Publisher's adverts.

Condition

In the Publisher's original binding. Externally, some marks to the front board and fading and discolouration to the spine. There is also some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. There is the previous owner's ink to the half-title page. The front and rear hinge are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
