1891 Poems by the Way
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
The first trade edition of this collection of poetry from British textile designer, writer, and artist William Morris. The casual title of the collection, his first published volume of poetry since 1876, reflected the fact that he had first drafted a number of its poems around 1870 and in the intervening years.
This work was intended to have a more social and communal focus, with works in the collection discussing basic human needs, and a desire for a more harmonious social order.
With a contemporary owner's inscription, dated 1892, to the front free endpaper. With an advertisement leaf facing the half title.
Condition
