Description
Early Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
Arthur Conan Doyle's historical novel Micah Clarke: His Statement, as made to his Three Grandchildren Joseph, Gervas, and Reuben during the Hard Winter of 1734.
Set during the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685, the novel consists of a bildungsroman following Micah Clarke and his way through life from a young boy to an adult, enduring many harrowing experiences, eventually becoming a soldier of fortune and sent into exile. A fascinating book, giving an insight from the point of view of a seventeenth century English boy, as he witnesses life through the rebellion. The novel is highly focused on the religious aspects of the conflict.
