The forty-sixth edition of this work in a half calf binding with marbled boards and end papers. Top edge gilt.

Jean-Baptiste Antoine Marcelin Marbot (1782-1854), known as Marcellin Marbot, was a French general, famous for these memoirs depicting the Napoleonic age of warfare. He served in key battles such as Battle of Marengo (1800), Battle of Austerlitz (1805), and Battle of Leipzig (1813).

This work is Volume I of three volumes. Marbot begins this autobiography with details of the origins of his family, who were distinguished in the military, and ends with the Battle of Friedland in 1807.

Condition

In a half calf binding. Externally smart, with rubbing to the extremities and light shelf wear to the boards. Spine is somewhat faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean except for the odd spot to the first and last few pages.
