The first illustrated edition of this work in the publisher's original brown pictorial cloth binding with white end papers. Sir Henry Rider Haggard (1856-1925) was an English author who specialised in adventure fiction set in exotic locations, primarily Africa. He was a pioneer of the ‘Lost World’ literary genre.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and seven plates. Collated, complete.
'Maiwa's Revenge' is a short novel about Allan Quatermain, a hunter who is on an expedition to rescue a capture hunter, and to avenge the death of the baby of the African princess Maiwa.
Four pages of advertisements to the rear.
Condition
In the publisher's original brown pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart, with minor shelf wear to the extremities and joints and faint marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright but spotted throughout.
