In the very scarce original cloth binding. 

Illustrated with a frontispiece, illustrative title page and fifty-two in text drawings throughout. Collated complete. 

A history of chivalry as told by French literary historian, Leon Gautier. This work aims to bring out the "glories of old France" and teach later generations of its relevance. 

Gautier discusses the origins of chivalry, the commandments and the ideal life a knight may carry from birth to death.

Condition

In the original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Hinges are tender but holding. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Scattered spotting to the title page and offsetting to the endpapers. Ink inscriptions to the front free endpaper.
