A fascinating work on animal magnetism, the healing system devised by Franz Anton Mesmer, which posits the existence of an invisible natural force possessed by all living things. Mesmer posited that the force could be used to hypnotise and heal.

With chapters on hallucinations, hypnotic states, and paralysis by suggestion.

With four pages of advertisements to the start of the work, and with an eighty page publisher's catalogue to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with a touch of discolouration to back strip and light rubbing to joints. Hinges lightly strained but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
