Illustrated with a frontispiece and seven plates. Collated complete. A collection of short stories including: Allan's Wife, Hunter Quartermain's Story, A Tale of Three Lions, and Long Odds. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Illustrated by Maurice Greiffenhagen, a British painter and Royal Academician, and Charles Kerr, a British artist and illustrator. Dated from the British Library.

Condition

In the original full brown cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine with the odd small closed tear to the head and tail of the spine. Rear hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown.
