First edition of Africa and Its Exploration as Told by its Explorers, complete in two volumes, in the original publisher's cloth bindings.

With contributions from many explorers, including Mungo Park, Grant, Iven, Livingstone, and more. 

Densely illustrated with in-text illustrations, monochrome plates, and folding maps. Volume I has sixty nine monochrome plates and six maps, one of which is folding. Volume II has sixty three monochrome plates and four maps. Collated, complete. 

Undated, dated from Jisc.

Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the front free endpapers dated 1910.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, sound. There is some bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. The spines are faded and there are some light marks to the boards. the rear joint of Volume II is cracked, and there is some wear to the head of the spine. Prior owner's ink inscriptions to the front free endpapers dated 1910. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spots.
