    Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

    A smart set of five popular novels by H. Rider Haggard, all reprints from Longmans 'Silver Library'.

    'Allan Quatermain', published in 1891. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty plates. Twenty-six pages of adverts to the rear. Collated, complete.

    'Colonel Quaritch V.C.', published in 1893. Illustrated with a frontispiece. Twenty-four pages of adverts to the rear. Collated, complete.

    'She', published in 1894. Illustrated with a frontispiece, two colour plates, and sixteen monochrome plates. Twenty-four pages of adverts to the rear, dated October 1895. Collated, complete.

    'Eric Brighteyes', the fourth edition, published in 1895. Illustrated with seventeen plates, and in-text illustrations. Twenty-four pages of adverts to the rear, dated August 1895. Collated, complete.

    'Cleopatra', published in 1896. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty-eight plates. Thirty-two pages of adverts to the rear. Collated, complete.

    Prize label to the front paste down of 'Allan Quatermain', from the Westminster Technical Institute, presenting the work to William A. Stephenson in 1893.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Light rubbing and a few minor marks to the boards and spines. Spines are lightly faded, more so to 'Eric Brighteyes'. A small amount of cockling of cloth to the front board of 'She'. Faded ring mark to the front board of 'Eric Brighteyes'. Cloth to the boards of 'Cleopatra' is cockled. Spots to the fore edges. Rear hinge of 'Allan Quatermain' is starting but firm. Hinges of 'Eric Brighteyes' and 'Cleopatra' are starting but firm. Prize label to the front paste down of 'Allan Quatermain'. Bookseller's label to the front paste down of 'Colonel Quaritch V.C.'. Chip to the rear endpaper of 'Cleopatra'. Internally, 'Colonel Quaritch V.C.', 'She', and 'Cleopatra' are firmly bound, 'Allan Quatermain' 'Eric Brighteyes' are generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some scattered spots. Plate facing page 110 in 'Allan Quatermain' is detached but present. Ink inscription to the recto of the frontispiece of 'Colonel Quaritch V.C.'. Ink inscription and a small mark to the recto of the frontispiece of 'Cleopatra'.
