Early editions of this set of works from the English Men of Action Series published by Macmillan and Co. in Hatchards signed half vellum bindings and cloth boards. 

Includes twenty two volumes bound in eleven; two volumes to each book. There are two monochrome plates to each book as the frontispiece for each volume. 

From the library of Sir William Eden Bart, 7th Baronet, a British politician and father to Anthony Eden, the British Prime Minister 1955-1957. Indicated by his book plate to the pastedown of each volume.

Lord Strafford (1893) by H. D. Trail bound with Peterborough (1890) by William Stebbing.

Condition

In half vellum binding and cloth boards. Externally, very smart. Only some minor bumping to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. Prior owner's book plate to the pastedowns of each volume. Internally, firmly bound. 'Colin Campbell' has pencil annotations throughout. Otherwise, the pages are bright and clean.
