What Our Customers Say...

Description

Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Pleasing Copy, Scarce

This is a charming edition of the poetry of English poet Henry Austin Dobson (1840-1921), a prolific writer of biographies as well as poetry. Illustrated by Edwin Austin Abbey (1852-1911) and Alfred Parsons (1847-1920). Abbey was an American illustrator, remembered for his painting of the coronation of Edward VII; he also completed a number of murals, including some at the Pennsylvania State Capitol. Parsons was an English landscape artist and gardener as well as an illustrator, often collaborating as an illustrator with Abbey.

With many wonderful illustrations, both full plate and vignette.

In a lovely full calf binding with delicate gilt flowers covering the boards, and an emblem containing the illustrators initials to the reverse.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Rebacked with the original spine laid down. Externally generally smart, some loss to the leather at the tail of the spine and some rubbing to the joints and extremities. Internally firmly bound, pages bright and clean.
